Great product, easy to use

I found this product while looking for a way to split the LAN at my job into two. We get one ethernet cord running to our desk and that’s it. I was worried that my company would have some kind of block to not allow this to happen (they don’t allow streaming video, audio, etc… so they block a lot of things). I found the unit on sell (about half price) and decided it was worth the price to try it. I tried it at home at first and it worked great (I have a router at home, so don’t really need this at home, but just wanted to make sure it worked at home so if it didn’t at the office, then I’d know it wasn’t the device). I unplugged the ethernet from one computer, plugged this in and plugged in two computers. So, basically, there was one ethernet cord going from the router to the TRENDnet box and two computers branched off from there. Worked great – no set up needed, just plug-n-play. So, now for the big test: I took it to work. Worked with no big problems – same plug-n-play. The only thing is that when I plug my computer directly to the work LAN, it says the connection at 1 GBPS, but through this device, it shows up as 100 MBPS. I can’t really tell any problems so far with speed – everything is working as normal, but now I have online access on both my work computer and my laptop. So, for me, this device works as advertised and meets my needs.

PS – sorry for my non-technical review, but I’m no tech expert!

PPS – don’t forget you’ll need an additional ethernet cord to make this connection. I didn’t think of it at first, but luckily remembered before I finished my transaction and was able to pick up a cheap 3-footer.

Perfect Size – Great Price – Great Function

This little 5 port switch is in my laptop computer bag at all times. There are plenty of situations I find myself in where there are several people who need Internet access but there is only one connection. Does anyone happen to have a switch? 9 times out of 10 the answer is “no.”

This switch has a great feature that I wasn’t expecting to find on such a small, low-cost unit. It auto-uplinks to any other switches on the network – no crossover cables necessary. That’s one less specialty cable required to carry around to ensure network connectivity. Good job TRENDnet!

Otherwise there is nothing remarkable about this switch besides being small, light and does what network switches are supposed to do. After quite a bit of searching, this was the smallest switch I could find. At 3.1″ x 3.9″ x 1.2″ it can’t get much smaller!

Light, compact and works great.

Bottom line: Small, light weight and just works. Power brick is half the size of the unit itself and is also very light.

I was looking for a portable network switch to keep in my backpack for occasions when I had a network drop but no wireless. Searching around I found this one and saw that the switch itself is small and light, but I was worried about the power brick. Turns out the brick is small too, so I’m very happy with my purchase.

I’ve used the switch to network two Macs together and to connect multiple Macs to various network drops. The switch has always worked flawlessly. It doesn’t care in which of the five ports you plug in the cables, it figures it all out and just works.

According to my kitchen scale, the switch weighs just under 4 ounces and the power brick just under 3.

Filter must not be shaken or the carbon particles will fall into reservoir – gentle hands are key. Still, keep your backup platic mesh cap on underneath the aqua prima just in case. Word of caution, you will lose some steam pressure. I drink black 85% of time, so I don’t care and can remove the filter when I really want strong steam. Also, something else that just may be a quirk of my machine, you will get more coffee sludge accumulating faster behind brew group. It may become a deal breaker, but boy do I hate to descale, so I am conflicted on whether to continue using the aqua prima. I may just get too annoyed cleaning the extra sludge. Excellent coffeemaker. In addition to good coffee the unit is unique in that one can fill the water reservoir and coffee basket without having to pull the unit out from under an upper cabinet. Nearly all other coffeemakers have such large lids that it is impossible to open the water reservoir while the unit is under a cabinet. With this unit the coffee basket rotates out from the coffeemaker bringing the basket closer for filling both coffee and water. Watson It works , the problem so far is the plastic they used to view how much water is in the unit, it isn’t clear plastic but rather opaque and the water level is difficult to see. The clock/timer is way too slow to operate, I really dislike it. I sent in the rebate offer and we’ll see if send the $10. Update: (1)The basket is falling apart after one week. service doesn’t stock the part so I used a glue gun for a temporary fix. (2)A month later, no rebate check and still no basket. Bice I really like the front access for filling the water reservoir and the coffee filter. The aroma option indeed improves the flavor of the coffee, and the unit does make a better pot of brew than my old coffeemaker. But I have three complaints, and it seems they’re simple, inexpensive features that would’ve earned this machine 4 or 5 stars. First, the water level indicator ideally needs to be backlit. As a mediocre alternative, Delonghi could’ve used clear plastic so you could actually see the water level. As is, it’s very difficult to see the level without shining a light directly on the indicator. Rather than going to the trouble, it’s slightly easier to add a step to the process & fill the carafe with the quantity of water needed & pour it in the unit (otherwise, I’d pour directly from my Brita pitcher into the unit). Second, the clock is unlit, which makes it almost worthless unless you’re standing closer than 2 feet from the unit. My old 29.99 Mr. Coffee’s clock was far superior. Shame. Third, also related to the clock, setting the time or the automatic start timer is very cumbersome. Besides being hard to see the clock itself, to set the time, you have to hold the time set button as it ticks off each minute until reaching your desired time. So, for example, this morning I wanted the coffee to start brewing at 6:00, but tomorrow, I want it to begin at 5:45. I have to hold the button down until it scrolls for 23 3/4 hours! Again, my cheap old Mr. Coffee was far simpler with its “hour” and “minute” buttons. When all is said & done, I like the machine because it makes good coffee…but with these simple additional features, I’d love it. I put it in the dishwasher at least twice and have never had any problems with it. I have no idea what these other reviewers are doing wrong, but I love this filter. I never have grounds in my coffee. There is always a little darker/thicker coffee in the bottom of a good cup of coffee! As for price, $20 is NOT the actual price for this filter. $10 is the “real” price, so you are not getting a deal on Amazon especially when you add shipping (unless you are getting free shipping). I have seen the same $10 filter at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Ace Hardware, and Publix. Gold standard? By Joanna Daneman There are pros and cons to this conical, gold-coated filter. Pros: You can reduce the use of paper products. Your filter never runs out Makes an ok cup Cons: Finer grinds make more sludge in the bottom of the carafe, just not as good a filter as paper. The gold eventually wears off. It is bonded to the mesh, but gold is relatively inert and doesn’t bond well to anything. Demars I first saw an interview for this and learned it was developed for the purpose of eliminating JET FUEL odors. A few tweaks and it works perfectly for cat box area. I asked people visiting me to be totally honest whether they smelled ANYTHING in my apartment. If it comes time that I can tell I look into the container, and it it almost completely gone. An Amazing Odor-Controlling Product By Marissa We have 3 cats and 2 litter boxes that fill up very quickly. I have tried nearly everything to eliminate (not mask) the odors – sprays that claim to “kill” odor-causing bacteria, enzyme-based deodorizers, natural deodorizers, specialty deodorizers from pet supplies stores, even a huge bag of baking soda. I came across this product at Amazon by doing a search. I bought the “starter kit” and have never looked back since. This is truly a great product and I ended up buying the refill and spray later on. I am still using the bonus 8oz container. It’s been over a month and the container is still half-full. I think the gel pieces work by releasing their molecules in the air which then bind with the odor molecules, causing the latter to “fall” from the air. As the gel molecules are released, the crystals “evaporate” and do not leave any residue. This product has a mild scent and I would have preferred it to be odorless. But it’s a small price to pay for its effectiveness. My only complaint is that the product is relatively expensive so I’m planning to look for a similar but less expensive product. But if the latter is less effective, I will definitely go back to Fresh Wave. I need to warn prospective buyers that this product is most effective in small, self-contained areas. Our litter boxes are in a “closet-like” area and I can guarantee there is no litter box smell. I tried using Fresh Wave in larger areas (the manufacturer states up to 400 sqft) but have found it to be less effective. However, to be honest, I did not try putting several containers around the rooms. I strongly recommend this product! Use it for bathrooms, closets, laundry areas, storage rooms and similar places. Works amazing against dead mouse smell By Jay A mouse died in our wall, and I didn’t really want to rip into the wall to take care of the smell. I heard this stuff worked awesome. It is a very strong sent, but much better than smelling rotting mouse! The sent goes down after a couple of days, and literally masks the nasty smell. It is pricey, but it works.
